Washington University in St Louis Olin Business School

Olin Business School
BUILDING OLIN: A Foundation of Excellence
Buildings

All architecture is shelter, all great architecture is the design of space that contains, cuddles, exalts or stimulates the persons in that space.
— Philip Johnson, Architect, 1906–2005

About the building

  • The new 73,000-square-foot Bauer Hall will complement and blend with the Collegiate Gothic architectural style of its neighbors on the Danforth Campus. From McMillan Hall to the east and the Knight Center to the west, the southern façade of Bauer Hall will complete the vista of Missouri granite halls that surround the central corridor of Mudd Field.
  • Entry into Bauer Hall is through an arched entrance extending from the building next to the base of Bauer Hall tower.
  • Bauer Hall and atrium entrances align with a major student pathway that runs from the dorms, across Forsyth, and between Simon Hall and the Danforth University Center.
  • Building will meet Washington University’s standard of LEED Silver; goal is to achieve LEED Gold certification.

This is an exciting time for the business school and these new facilities should continue the momentum already generated. They will not only assure the traditional architectural continuity of the campus, but will also introduce some additional striking features.
